I've been meaning to make a post since Friday. I'm horrible.

- I cut my hair! I really meant to make a post asking for options on which cut to get, but I never got around to it and settled on this, which translated to my salon as Rihanna meets Halle Berry. It didn't come out as epic as that girl's, but I like it. It's so much easier to maintain when I wash it and the breeze when it's windy is AWESOME.

Instagrammed photo under here )

- I'm going to Boston this weekend! Divya and I are going to the comic con. I'm cosplaying Ramona Flowers again just because I don't have anything else ready. But Boston! I love you and have missed you. The four hour bus ride I have not, but what can you do!

And now a bunch of local music reccs from my workplace )

- In other news, my sister and I are slowly working through the Harry Potter movies (she'd only seen the first three), and by slowly I mean we watched SS and COS on Sunday, POA and GOF Monday, and OOTP and HBP this last Sunday. It's fun to watch them grow up and it's almost impossible for me to not get wrock songs with lyrics that are direct quotes stuck in my head.

- Speaking of HP, if you're just getting Pottermore, add me! I'm fireboltlight136. I'm not on much, but I plan to be once the next book opens up! Or if you want to duel, because... points, amirite.

Oh, also this happened and is possibly the greatest cover of my new favorite song.I didn't think they could make that song work, but they did and it's still classic Goot and Sugg dorkiness and I love it a lot. #friendship!

TV Post!

So I'm slowly getting back into TV. And then after that, maybe I'll get into movies again, or video games. I miss stories. (Getting back into) Reading is a slow process, but it's at a pace I'm accepting for now. Podcasts are another story.

I'm just going to ramble about some shows now, the things I'm watching and such. I have to catch up on Burn Notice this weekend and next up are Happy Endings and Man Up because it's faster to binge 30 minute shows!

I gave up on Suburgatory. I like it, but when I was collecting links to download on Friday I went, "It's not THAT important," and clicked out of the post. I'm having more fun with the other shows.

I haven't watched the newest Hung yet, but that show keeps getting better, too. HBO, YOU'RE ON POINT. At least, with my shows. I hear Boardwalk Empire is getting even more bland than it used to be.

In other news, I know I tend to get into cycles where I'm like, "I WISH I KNEW A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT. I'M GONNA LEARN AN INSTRUMENT. INSTRUMENTS ARE EXPENSIVE. I HAVE A KEYBOARD. FUCK IT, MY FINGERS DON'T WORK THAT WAY. MUSIC IS HARD." But guys, OCARINAS. With my new phone I was able to download an Ocarina app. But it doesn't work properly (you can't play a D note, says one comment on the Marketplace... I just know I can't get a higher note than C) so I decided to price real ones. I won't buy a ceramic one because lololol I am a clumsy person who will break that shit eventually. And also, wouldn't it get nasty, being a wind instrument? I remember the recorder from freshman year of high school getting disgusting with my spit. I don't even know if I'm going to buy that particular brand--apparently there are lots of ocarina makers? Anyway, I figure plastic ones are decent enough. And it's geeky enough that I'd stick with it just for the geek factor, if not the musical accomplishment. WE SHALL SEE.

I hope everyone who celebrates it had a good American Thanksgiving, doing whatever it is that you do. It's hard to say lately, since sometimes people prefer to spend the day away from family and with friends instead, some people prefer to spend it giving back to the community, etc. Some people want the holiday to go away because of the racist connotations. To which I say, congratulations, almost every one of America's holidays have racist undertones. How about we evolve instead of dragging us back to the heydays. /random rant

I'm also overly cautious in the holiday season because things always tend to go to shit for someone close to me. So all of you stay safe because you are all my favorites and I don't want anything happening to any of you! <3333

Thanksgiving was okay for me. Spent the morning by myself watching the parade until everyone else woke up and/or came over and then ate. We did Boston Market this year again, so there wasn't too much to clean up but I regretted eating as much as I did because my stomach feels like it has a permanent cramp today. Thing is, I over-served myself and felt bad not eating all of the turkey because I hate seeing those "don't eat me" stuff on TV. I can't ever let turkey go to waste on Thanksgiving because of it.

Anyway, I got some online deals for my Christmas shopping today, but not too many. Mainly because most of my shopping is going to be gift cards and it's stupid to buy a gift card online when they are pretty much available at any store I go to anyway.

You know when you get stuck on a song and have to listen to it FOREVER on repeat? Last week was "Super Bass" and this week, amusingly, is "Love You Like a Love Song." Right now, collectively, "LYLALS" is at 27 plays on this computer. And yet, all day I've had "I May Lose Everything" by Ministry of Magic in my head. The contrast between the themes of those songs concern me a lot. I take a lot of stock in earworms. Then again, the song-on-repeat for the week up to Halloween was "Party Rock" and my earworms then were "Ievan Polka" and "Po Pi Po." SOMETIMES I JUST LIKE FLUFF.

So much to talk about, so little time.

Robert Schwartzman at Webster Hall )

THE WEEKEND WAS THE GREATEST. World Cup of Quidditch V. It started out already exhausting because I really needed rest after being at work all of Thursday and then having to wake up early Friday. Saturday (and sometimes Sunday, if I can get away with it) is my day to really enjoy sleeping in with nowhere to go. Instead I woke up at 7am, and left to pick up [ profile] splits_thesky at Penn Station. We walked up to Times Square, where they were re-creating Super Mario Land for the day. It was still pretty early so the crowd wasn't ridiculous and we were able to observe and leave quickly. I didn't realize until later that they were actually giving away the Tanooki tails and ears the volunteers were wearing. I wanted a pair. :(

Then Quidditch happened )

I'm like an episode away from being caught up with American Horror Story. THE HELL IS GOING ON.
bohemia: (Misc - ILYM Rush concert)
I am in the process of uploading my Chicago vlogs (there are many, I'm sorry, IDK when I premiered a reality show, but apparently I have), but I also went to concerts last week and just got my Pottermore email (!!) so there are things to update about.

But I'm in the middle of Chapter One of Pottermore and was taking my time, but then it crashed while I was marauding around (see what I did there?) moment two, so I'm sitting here letting refreshevery and YouTube do their thing, and writing this entry. PRODUCTIVITY, I HAS IT.

Anyway, when Pottermore gets back up, I'm FireboltLight136. Add me! And at this rate I will get sorted in November. STAY TUNED.

So concerts, yes? )

I'M A RAVENCLAW!!!! OMG, I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER TO SEE THOSE BLUE RESULTS ON A PAGE. Also, I love how almost everyone in Ravenclaw has an owl. I ALMOST GOT A TOAD, HOW WEIRD WOULD THAT HAVE BEEN. My wands irl and in Pottermore don't match up, but I can TAKE THAT DIFFERENCE because the walnut wand on Alivan's is ugly.

Livejournal, you have returned! Except that.... you haven't. I can post but I can't read my flist. Boo.

This week flew by but was also interesting. Since everything I usually do is related to LJ in some way, down to watching TV that isn't live, I was on YouTube finally getting around to watching a bunch of things like A Very Potter Musical/Sequel and Echo Base CA-related videos, like all the guys' VEDAs and most of the music videos.

Let's talk about Starkid for a second. Darren Criss is cool, and I enjoy his dorkiness and creativity, but I don't really enjoy a lot of his original songs outside of AVPS/AVPS. His fans tend to annoy me on Tumblr and Glee is another issue. Joey Richter on the other hand is a beautiful, beautiful man that I prefer to just stare at while he speaks. He sort of reminds me of Samm Levine mixed with Jared Padalecki and a dash of teddy bear. Just look at him:

Under here )

Ugh, I love.

Also, I am addicted to "Stutter" and Joe Walker's Umbridge. I'm not sure why that's the character I walked away with the most amount of love for, but it happened. I do like Snape and Draco (LAUREN LOPEZ IS REALLY HOT, I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A WIG CHANGES THAT), too, but UMBRIDGE. <33 And I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but I think the sequel is better if only because the songs are nicer and there are a lot more human moments in it than in the first one, which was sillier. And it is my plan this weekend to learn the dance moves to this:

Stutter at LeakyCon )

Now wizard rock. I'm really upset that I got this into wizard rock this late. I should've been paying more attention when I started downloading things back in 2007/2008. The Remus Lupins are apparently disbanded now and Alex is now in Ministry of Magic (my favorite group, so not all that bad?) and the Harry and the Potters are still going strong, but I just missed the Con Tour in early July and I feel like all the bands might be stopping now that the movies are over and there isn't more canon to come in any respect (except for Pottermore, maybe?). I mean, I can't even find the MySpaces of some of my older faves. At least I got to see a bunch of them at the Wizard Rock Festival in November and I'm seeing Harry and the Potters tomorrow. And I really wish I could go to wrockstock but it's too far. My consolation prize is that people like Jason Munday and Alex Carpenter are still making nerdcore music, so I have that, if I don't have wizard rock. I wish more fandoms had their version of wizard rock. Doctor Who has trock but I have tried various times to watch Doctor Who and it didn't grab me. I don't even have a major fandom right now, but I would dive into one if there was a music scene, probably. So right now, my biggest fascination is the guys from Ministry of Magic/Echo Base LA and their friends.

I can't even go through all the favorite parts from their vlogs, but basically, here are their Youtube channels: < who is also friends with Ray William Johnson of =3? Weirdddd.

Some of them have channels strictly for their vlogs and/or music.

I also watched all of My Drunk Kitchen, finally and now I sort of want to vlog myself cooking. Not necessarily drunk, but she makes it look hysterical and fun...

I've spent today thinking of new layouts for all my social network accounts. I went and found fonts for a logo, color palettes from, design schemes from various Google searches, the dimensions and size of each image file I'd need.... and now I realize I don't really use Youtube, Twitter doesn't really need a professional background, LJ and Tumblr I just recently re-did and Vimeo doesn't do customizing. :/ So I just made backgrounds for Youtube and Twitter for whenever I decide I need to start using them. I did re-do my page and I'm still thinking of a better, more personal and unique background for that one, so it's just an artsy, hipster background for now.

- -- Originally [ profile] splits_thesky found this, and I got all excited about it but we need more people, I think, to be really sufficient. And now she might not even come? SO GUYS, C'MON, I REALLY WANT TO DO THIS. IF YOU'RE IN THE NYC AREA, LET'S DO IT.

- -- I was ranting at work about how having no insurance has led to sucky vision. I used to get my eyes checked every year, but since I haven't had insurance it's been three years since my prescription was updated. I was about to go to Cohen's Optical and get an eye exam and then use and, but I saw one negative comment about the occurrence of prism in zennioptical glasses and my right eye is already fucked up from being hit head-on in third grade. I don't want to fuck with them anymore. But one of my co-workers swears up and down by, so I think that's a better endorsement. Check them out if you need to!

- Wizard Rock Tour Resource -- There's a Harry and the Potters concert on the 31st and I'm excited. I've been meaning to go to more Wizard Rock concerts and I missed a few in July because I didn't know of a centralized place to look for concerts. I have my favorite groups, but I'm always willing to try out others. I never got around to mentioning the Wizard Rock festival from November but there were so many great bands I'd never heard of before that I need to start keeping track of. WRTR helps a bit. And the Harry and the Potters concert is $10 in advance and only two dollars more at the door.

So last night was Blipfest '11. Going to a chiptune concert has been a dream of mine since I first heard of 8Bit Weapon on Attack of the Show allll the way back when it was actually a geeky show. /elitist

Blipfest's also tonight and tomorrow night but I could only go last night, and really I wanted to see Anamanaguchi and Talks to Animals the most. Zen Albatross was good, too. I thought his set was entirely too short. The others were okay--Crashfaster opened for Minusbaby, and I like him much more than Minusbaby so I was disappointed when they actually took the stage. Definitely checking out Zen Albatross when I can. Ralp was meh but cute while also looking like Kevin Pereira and I was confused throughout that set by my shallowness.

Anthony Carboni and the Bytejacker crew were there. I only saw him for a second and didn't know how to approach him (I did this last time I saw him too, actually) and then @babylonian passed by and looked right at me and I was basically the raisins meme for a good while afterwards. I tried to find Carboni later to say hi or whatever, but he was always either taking pictures, updating Twitter or interviewing people. :/ Later on I found out that Jon was there too (the old cameraman for Bytejacker) and also one of the regular video commenters, Sanskrit and I was like, "Noooo so many Bytejacker people and I met none of themmmmm." (I just.... have a lot of feelings about Bytejacker.) I did however, have the shortest tweetconvo ever with Sanskrit on the train back home. So... there's that.

Anyway, the setup time was so much shorter than regular concerts because, well, they're playing with modded Gameboys, right. No tuning really needed, just audio check. Although Anamanaguchi really took a while and that was pretty sad because I almost thought I would have to leave before their set was over. But they finished in time, yayy.

I really enjoyed the fact that there were people taking pictures with Game Boy Cameras and 3DSes. Really taking the lobit attitude to another extreme. Also there was a furry who was really weird at first because, well, he was a large blue goat, right. But then he started posing for pictures and was actually giving advice to people and having conversations and I was like, "DUDE IS AWESOME; ALWAYS BE MY FRIEND." But now I realize he was actually the mascot for dragonchiptune and lol, well, my noob is showing. He's still awesome but... innocuous now. AND I'M SORRY I THOUGHT YOU WERE A FURRY.

I wish I could go back. NEXT YEAR (or if they do one in December like they usually do), I SHALL. And wherever I'm working, I'm taking off the entire run of days. XD

ALSO TOMORROW IS BIG APPLE COMIC CON SPRING EDITION AND I EXPECT A LOT OF LOL AND FANTASTICNESS THEN AS WELL. My Jubilee costume isn't as great as I wanted it to be (I DON'T HAVE A YELLOW JACKET, SADFACEEEEE), but whatever. I'm done running all over the city looking for one. I'm still new to cosplaying, shut uppppp.

BRB, watching/listening to the live stream of tonight's Blipfest.

P.S. Random tidbit I learned about myself: I can drink a liter of water in 20 gulps or 30 secs.

I really wanted to talk about the Rooney concert before the opportunity passes but I've been getting home late from work every day while my sister has been going to sleep early, so my time on the computer's been limited. Other things have happened that made me frustrated and angry and not wanting to deal with anything online, too, so it's been come home, scroll through LJ/watch TV, eat, go to sleep all week. Things, I mean, besides Tuesday's concert.

But this entry's about the concert )

And I didn't expect them to pull out another cover for the encore, but by that time I was like, "I'M EVEN SAVING THE BAR WRISTBAND TO THIS CONCERT. I LOVE EVERYTHING." I didn't buy anything though. I wanted a sweatshirt but they didn't have any I didn't own already on sale and the shirts on display were sort of lame. So now I'm on Tumblr every night watching videos of the rest of the tour. I love these guys. One day I will work on a show where I will get them on as guests. Or something. Everyone needs goals, right? Leave me alone.
bohemia: (Being Human UK - Hoodie)
Since I haven't been watching TV I've noticed the only shows I'm really missing are How I Met Your Mother, Archer and Psych. Archer just makes me genuinely laugh out loud each week. I stopped following the Psych accounts on Twitter and I don't miss it. However, someone mentioned watching Psych to me recently and I interpreted that as "watching the new season" and for a second I went, "IT STARTED WITHOUT ME?" before I realized they meant catching up on DVD. But I'm not excited for the new season and I haven't watched a new episode at 10pm in a while. I haven't marathoned it in ages and I don't really care about doing anything besides collecting it on DVD and waiting for it to finish/get canceled.

Eventually I will catch up with all my shows again--probably sometime within the next two weeks--but it's been interesting that the only spoilers I've been upset about reading (besides the Being Human UK finale because that was a big one and I inevitably won't react the same once I get there myself) are HIMYM spoilers.

In other media news, I downloaded Pulse for my phone. I realized that I get most of my news from Twitter now, but I never follow any news accounts because they invariably have a link to a story/video and I'm not following people to click on links (pictures, ok. videos with descriptions more detailed than "what", maybe). I want my news to be a one click progress. Pulse will download stories the night before and when I get up in the morning, yes it's one more thing to check, but it's also informative! I don't seem to take up more than half an hour just reading from Pulse and, if in the middle of the day I find myself constantly refreshing other sites to look at, I'll pull out my phone and read some NYTimes articles or the top stories from Digg or the headlines from Esquire or GQ. It's pretty cool. I'm still trying to decide how to function in this new world I live in that has no summer and winter breaks, long work days and small windows of time to unwind. Where TV, comics, movies, writing, fandom, games, web surfing, graphics, reading etc falls has yet to be seen.

At least music is something I'm always up on since I gave up on being current and following what I like a while ago. To be fair, listening to music has sort of fallen by the wayside as I catch up on all the video podcasts, but I generally still listen to at least an hour of music a day. Except that lately I've been all about songs from Film Riot's customized sponsor skits. All the Revision3 shows have their own sponsor bits, but most of them are just copy they read on camera. Sometimes they'll go into witty banter that the fans love (Dan reading about Netflix on TRS, Kevin not understanding how to read numbers on Diggnation/messing up codes), but Film Riot is unique in that they tend to make them into silly sketches. I think every Film Riot fan has their own favorite sponsor bits, but the Ford Fiesta one has been in my head the last two days.

Under here )

Also, I'm not sure I've ever shared this, but I'm upset that Inst Msgs was canceled and I've always loved this segment from it, so I finally threw it on my iPod.

Other stuff I'm into recently include the new Britney Spears and The Strokes albums (but anyone who knows me knows that's a given), Lykke Li's albums and Childish Gambino's stuff. This weekend was kind of blah for me, so I am glad to be done catching up with podcasts. I need to zone out to music.
bohemia: (Being Human UK - Hoodie)
I haven't had time to look at things online this week. It's so strange that now that I'm out of school I have even less time to do things. I have to be in bed by 10/11pm at night if I want to be up in time for work in the morning. But when I'm getting home at 6/7pm at night, that doesn't leave a lot of time for anything--once I get eating and catching up with the family out of the way (that's worded wrong, but you know what I mean). I've also sort of stopped watching TV until I'm caught up with my podcasts, which will probably take another two weeks. Somehow I'm more disciplined about keeping up with my TV shows than with my podcasts--maybe because I can't get spoiled about my podcasts since exactly three of you watch the same ones.

I've been listening to the Aida soundtrack for the past week. It used to be connected to really strong feelings for me, but I've realized it no longer is. I made a list of songs that were connected to memories/feelings that sting on Saturday and just listened to them in a row. It's partly sadistic, partly therapeutic and I do it every so often to analyze what songs are still on my shitlist and which I can associate with better memories now. I only have a few from the last year to deal with now, and I'm glad. There was a time when I couldn't listen to Rooney's entire first album, actually. But that's obviously not an issue anymore.

I had some weird dreams lately that I've been meaning to share because I thought they were pretty cool (forgive the grammar, it's too late for me to worry about tenses atm):

Cut because they're long paragraphs and rambly )

Finally, TEAM TROY FOR THE FANDOM MARCH MADNESS WIN. Dudes, I don't even watch Doctor Who (I've tried, I don't get it) or Community (I also tried, it's not funny at allll) but I loooove Donald Glover. True story, he and his internet comedy troupe were on an episode of The Totally Rad Show when they played Apples to Apples and I thought he was hysterical and decided that even though I don't like his show I was a fan of his. Matt Smith is also cool and I really like him too (and Party Animals is on my list of shows to watch this year), but when I saw someone from Community was winning all the rounds I went, "It better not be Joel McHale!" and just as I was waiting for Google to return my search on Troy Barnes I went, "Actually, if this is Donald Glover's character, I'm totally on board with this." I knew Eleven would get this far. Well, I also expected Spock to make it further than he did and I AM SHOCKED, WHAT IS HAPPENING, I THOUGHT YOU NU!TREK FANS WERE STILL OUT THERE? I mean, FUCKING BUFFY SUMMERS won last year and her show hasn't been on in years! But at least this year, whoever wins, I'll be happy.

But yeah, if you haven't yet decided... Troy. :D

Today was a great day. Got up and hopped straight onto the computer and stayed there. Caught up on TV, then started a because I wasn't annoying enough on Facebook, blipped every now and then and listened to other songs on there. Then I got the brilliant idea to take out all my old Now That's What I Call Music CDs and mix CDs I made back in high school for people I had crushes on, and listened to them all. Good times, let me tell you. I like that even back then I wasn't as mushy as a teenager should be. The mixes from freshmen year were a little on the pop side (Nobody's Angels, soulDecision), but otherwise my music tastes haven't changed too much. Hysterical. Then I made plans for the rest of this week.

And then I missed The Good Guys by ten minutes. :/ But I'll catch it tomorrow.

I KNOW, I KNOW... TV. But I really need to post about this week so I can record it for posterity~*~*.

It all started Saturday, when [ profile] splits_thesky came up to see the play I'm helping with at school. My dad and I drove down to pick her up from the train station and our car battery died? So we had to wait until a family friend came all the way out to give us a jump and then get to school with enough time for me to do my stage manager stuff. I got there later than I was supposed to--but earlier than the audience, so there was that.

The next day we drove her all the way home, which is always a fun ride, except the intermittent clouds made the roads very bi-polar and scary to drive on at times. My dad and I kept shouting at the rainbows we saw on the way home. THERE WAS A DOUBLE RAINBOW AND A HALF.

After I got back home [ profile] splits_thesky and I both realized I could have just stayed at her house because she was supposed to come back to NYC for the Rooney show yesterday ANYWAY. But we (mainly me) weren't thinking straight. Then that night's play performance was canceled because one of our cast members hurt their foot.

The rest of the week was a blur. I didn't do much except watch TV and laze about until Wednesday when I went back downtown to pick up [ profile] splits_thesky and see Rooney. We stopped at McGee's Pub, the inspiration for MacLaren's on How I Met Your Mother, got a little tipsy on Horse's Necks (me) and Gin & Tonics ([ profile] splits_thesky) and then somehow found our way to the Rooney show (there was a drunk!voicepost planned but I couldn't remember my passcode since I hadn't done a VP in AGES), where we both got another round of Gin & Tonics and tried to enjoy the show from various points in the venue. We were near the stage by the end though, which was what mattered.

I may have been inebriated, but I have duties at concerts. )

And then the show ended 20 minutes before [ profile] splits_thesky's train left NYC so even though we made a mad dash to get there in time, she missed it and had to crash at my place. By the time we got back to my house, the next train would have just been pulling into NYC (two hours after the train she was supposed to catch).

AND THEN WE ALMOST MISSED HER TRAIN AGAIN TODAY. But we made it by seconds, even though we were slightly hungover. And now [ profile] splits_thesky is now safely back at her own home, I made it to the play (and tech went on without a hitch even though neither lighting or sound was at the rehearsal yesterday), and had a fun day altogether. But now I'm just tired. TOMORROW, TV.

ETA: ALSO! When we were trying to get back to Penn Station for the train, one of the actors from that Enjoy play I saw recently was on the same platform and I had a small celebrity freak-out. :D

I HAVE NEW FRIENDS, HELLLOO. Um, relevant links for you: a round-up of links, contact info and a introduction post here, a poll for a meetup I'm trying to organize here and the opt-in poll for my J2 writing filter (that will finally go into affect the moment I finish this fic I'm writing now) here.

Only three of my shows are new this week. And I guess Monk, because it's the last one and I have to see how it ends. I'm still not over Psych becoming the oldest show on USA. What is that. And I'm not over the random new move to Tuesdays either. That's Melrose Place/V/Lost night. And My Boys, I think. I never had shows on Tuesdays and then suddenly they're all attacking me that night. D: And the most TV I can watch live without DVR is two hours straight before I zone out so there will be problems with this schedule. DNW.

Anyway, have some memes and then some commentary/review/whatever on TV.

Okay, I'm going back to writing. I'm determined to get to my J2 epic fic next week so I want to edit all the ones that have been beta'd and then finish this Britney/Justin one. I'm aiming for 12K but so far I have written only 2K in two days and it's only scenes here and there and nowhere near a cohesive story. IDK, I might just turn them into a series instead because it's super sloppy and I'm not sure I can fix it. It depends on what it looks like at the end of the week when I've written the skeleton.

bohemia: (Txt - Vampire shift)
This is the year of getting things done, apparently. I don't know what happened to me but I'm suddenly fired up to re-start all my old stuff that I had plans of doing.

The other day I spent the night watching fanvids on YouTube and decided to mess around in iMovie with a few of them, re-editing them into another video just to see if I still enjoyed it, and I do. So I'm going to re-examine all the vids I never finished from 2007 and get those out there. I even found an instrumental version of the llama song (not the greatest but it's something for little un-musically inclined me) so even my parodies will get done! Except that I have to update the Sammy song, because S2 Sam ≠ S4 Sam.

And am I the only one who hates when fanmix songs aren't all the same type of song? It kinda breaks the rhythm of the playlist when it's like Ray Charles next to Rage Against the Machine followed by early Britney Spears. Sometimes I'll just download a bunch of pairing fanmixes and re-arrange them into another makeshift playlist because it grates me that much.

More memes! But less on you and more me rambling on about my icons )

And more recs!
[ profile] vaingirlfic: Breathe (The Incredible Hulk, Bruce/Betty, PG-13)
It's short, adorable and hot. Just read it.

[ profile] falseeeyelashes: Jurassic Park Is On Channel Seven & Deadened Streets and Other Songs (Cloverfield, Marlena/Rob AU, R)
CLOVERFIELD FIC. It's lonely in the movie fandoms, sometimes, can you tell?

[ profile] alchemistc: Things Perry Knows (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Harry/Harmony, PG-13)
THE ONLY HARRY/HARMONY FIC THAT DOESN'T INVOLVE PERRY TOO. It's frustrating sometimes when slashers take over comms. I have no problem in the big comms, but for tiny fandoms it gets annoying. Plus, it helps that the fic is actually adorable.

[ profile] mclittlebitch: Well, You Walked Into The Party (Iron Man/Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Harry/Tony, NC-17)

[ profile] tigriswolf: There Comes A Time For Us All (Push, Nick/Cassie, PG)
The Push fandom seems to think Kira was a horrible love interest and decided to age Cassie up enough so they can pair her up with Nick in every fic. Sometimes they don't even bother aging her too far. But this one was written just sweet enough not to be icky. The Mermaid fic in the same post is good as well.

[ profile] dramaphile: Look What My Baby Can Do & Manual Override (Supernatural/Transformers, Dean/Metallicar?, PG)
I don't even know. Since the Transformers sequel is coming out soon, I figured this is a good time to throw this in the mix, and they're short and cracky.

I realize I haven't spoken about Psych or BSG, but I don't think I'll be doing posts for BSG. I sort of missed the whole last half hour of Psych though. So I have to watch it again before I can actually talk about it. Whenever I get time before the next episode. I did watch Brothers & Sisters and Big Love tonight, along with that We Are One concert. I wasn't going to watch, but then I saw Jack Black, Rosario, Kal Penn and Steve Carell's names on HBO's site and suddenly it was on my schedule. I loved that little girl asleep behind Obama the whole day and also Obama grooving along, lolol.

SNL was a lot better yesterday. Twitter was hating all over it, but hey, at least Rosario sang and used some of her crazy Hispanic impressions. I love her impressions. I just wish they'd let NPH sing last week. But let's discuss my weekend of HBO marathoning!

In other news: ON TUESDAY DAVY COMES OUT. That's the second album from Coconut Records. I have been listening to it non-stop since I downloaded it the other day, but because I only have digital copies of both his albums I don't have the credits and thank yous that comes in the liner notes of albums. That'll always grate me the most about downloading digital music, since I grew up pouring over the thank yous and writing credits of songs whenever I got a new album.

Anyway, there's this one song called "Drummer" that's definitely a downer but also the kind of song with little hints that I'm trying to figure out. So far I get that he mentions his dad dying, dating someone (I'd assume Selma Blair but hell if I'll ever understand how they fit together) and moving to New York. So now I'm trying to figure out who "West Coast" and "Back to You" were about. I always assumed they were random songs or about Zooey-- which didn't make much sense (such a Cali girl). And I'm pretty sure he never dated Kirsten Dunst and she's the only one I know that seems like she would live in NYC. I get too involved with these things. ALSO, I WANT TO KNOW WHO DOES WHAT ON THIS ALBUM AND IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS. I can't tell if I'm hearing two Jasons or Robert backing or if that's Louie on piano or Taylor's guitar. Ugh, damn you digital downloads for being so enticing. WHY ARE THE COPPOLAS SO TALENTED. And why is Nic Cage trying so hard to destroy that image. D:

P.S. Someone tell the possible UFO outside my house to go away. D: That whirling sound is bothering my eardrums.

I still don't feel in the Christmas mood, but because it's tomorrow, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

And happy holidays for all who don't celebrate Christmas (Solstice, Yule, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa...). I'm a bit late on most of those, but I hope my intention still rings true.

Anyway, I'm putting the finishing touches on my presents for you guys. It's not a lot, but I hope you guys enjoy them. :)

Apparently the "see a concert" thing happens once a year for me. It's been just over a year since I saw Rooney in concert. Nothing too exciting about the pre-concert day, except that I dogsat Bijou's family while their owner was out. Bijou tends to think she's better than other dogs, but she still associates with her family, so she was besides herself running in the hallways with them this afternoon.

And actually, there's not much to say about the concert itself. LOL YEAH, RIGHT.

Another weird coincidence: when I was on my way home I was supposed to meet up with my dad. But when the train arrived at my station, my dad just happened to be in the train car right in front of me. And the only reason I walked that far down the station was because I had to throw out a bottle and the only trash can was right at that spot.

In summation: I want a Sisky and Hunter of my own.

lulz. I was on my way to posting this, and I happened to notice the calendar on my journal. It's pretty obvious which week was my spring break.

Anyway, point of the post:

Does anyone know of a community that helps you find songs for fanmixes? I know that sounds weird, but whenever I do a mix I always look for the songs that just feel like they're about the subject and then scour my iPod/CD/MP3 collection for other songs that could possibility fit the subject as well. My mixes always end up very structured and (I think, anyway) very story-like.

And right now I really need a song about a one night stand or a casual affair ("Get Mine, Get Yours" by Christina Aguilera was an early choice, but I think it's too sexual for the pairing, as is "No Strings" by Lola). And possibly some song about fighting those first romantic feelings could fit in as well. The closest things I can come up with are "Not In Love" by Enrique Iglesias and "Only Fooling Myself" by Kate Voegele. I'm mainly trying to keep the mix in the pop/rock/country vain.

So I just did a 30 minute search on comms, and found no comm for things like this. And I'm thisclose to starting one, except I don't know if there's a desire for one of those comms.

Plus, I'm about to leave for the movies soon and don't have time to brainstorm comm names and all that stuff.

I apologize in advance. This is going to be really rambly, because it's just a bunch of things I felt like I needed to comment on and they all really don't go together at all.

It is also a very lengthy post! )

My mom's hinting to the fact that she wants to see one of these movies with me tonight, so I should make myself available to this suggestion. Ciao.
