I really wanted to talk about the Rooney concert before the opportunity passes but I've been getting home late from work every day while my sister has been going to sleep early, so my time on the computer's been limited. Other things have happened that made me frustrated and angry and not wanting to deal with anything online, too, so it's been come home, scroll through LJ/watch TV, eat, go to sleep all week. Things, I mean, besides Tuesday's concert.

I think I've decently covered my love/embarrassment of my love for this band before, yes? Okay. I left straight from work, found something to eat for dinner nearby, found the venue, sat around in a park until I got too cold to care and got to the venue around 8ish. I thought there was two opening acts but there were three. Rooney didn't go on until around 10pm. The other acts were good but nothing I felt like looking up afterwards. If I hear of them again I'll definitely take a listen though. The first was some local band I can't remember the name of and there was this really cute guy by the barricades to the backstage that I meant to talk up after their set, but I guess he was with them since he was gone after their set. The second band was sort of cool but while going through my photos I can't differentiate them from the third band by anything other than their clothes. Both bands were cool, Voxhaul Broadcast are from California and Skybombers are from Australia. Voxhaul Broadcast are very clearly hipster-y and weed-lovers. It was sort of awkward because the venue was 18+ and there were quite a few kids there with their parents and Voxhaul Broadcast was telling stories about getting their weed confiscated by state troopers and Skybombers were talking about getting trashed in Staten Island the night before. Sorry, parents, Rooney shows are generally much more Disney-related! THE ONE SHOW THAT'S 18+ AND THE BANDS TALK ABOUT DRUGS AND BOOZE. WHOOPS. Anyway, Skybombers used to be called Collusion, and the lead singer had a shirt with the name on it. And then this guy in the back was like, "BUT I LIKE COLLUSION!" I do too, dude. Oh well.

Oh, before Skybombers went on I tweeted that the theatre needed new house music because they were playing "Rebel Yell", "Da Do Run Run", "Good Vibrations", and "When You Walk In The Room" ON REPEAT. As soon as "Rebel Yell" finished for the fifth time they randomly played "Dancing Queen" and "More Than A Woman." Message received? I THINK SO.

Rooney's set list:
Blueside
All Or Nothing
If It Were Up To Me
Holdin' On
Are You Afraid
I Don't Understand You
Stars and Stripes
I Can't Get Enough
Shakin'
Rockin' in the Free World
Not In My House

Encore:
Runaway
When Did Your Heart Go Missing?

Rooney's set was probably the best I've seen in a while. Robert has this pink guitar I don't remember ever seeing before, but he only used it for the first two songs (and the second encore song) before switching to his Fender. I was lamenting recently how they hadn't played "Are You Afraid" in a while, which I love because it's my favorite of Louie's keyboarding skills besides "Runaway" (and I guess "I Can't Get Enough" because that beat is allll Louie) which they did a cover of when I first saw them in '07. And I heard Brandon tuning up for the beginning and I was jshda;jadsadsaha in my corner. They did the same switcheroo they've been doing for the last.. four? times I've seen them, except this time they just did "Rockin' in the Free World" and then switched back. I LIKE SEEING LOUIE ON ROBERT'S FENDER AND ROBERT ON NED'S DRUMS. I'M USED TO THIS BY NOW. Also at one point, I forgot which song it was...I want to say "Stars and Stripes" because there's always a particularly long jam session when Robert introduces everyone, but it was something where the breakdown was part of the actual song because I noticed the notes were off immediately. Whatever it was, Taylor was off to the side as they were coming out of a breakdown and for about three notes I realized the guitar was slightly off. As in, where there was supposed to be three notes I just heard one sliding note. I look over and Taylor is TAKING A SIP OF HIS DRINK WHILE SLIDING THE ONE NOTE WITH HIS OTHER HAND. BADASS, I LOVE HIM, UGH. <33 He put the drink back on the amp and in one motion shoots a sly, smug, "I got this"/"whoops" smile at the audience and continued on with the song.

And I didn't expect them to pull out another cover for the encore, but by that time I was like, "I'M EVEN SAVING THE BAR WRISTBAND TO THIS CONCERT. I LOVE EVERYTHING." I didn't buy anything though. I wanted a sweatshirt but they didn't have any I didn't own already on sale and the shirts on display were sort of lame. So now I'm on Tumblr every night watching videos of the rest of the tour. I love these guys. One day I will work on a show where I will get them on as guests. Or something. Everyone needs goals, right? Leave me alone.

Sometime in March! It doesn't really mean anything that I knew of, I just wanted the numbers gone. But apparently it's Serbian or something for bohemian.

Sounds like an epic concert! You just reminded me of the concert I saw of theirs. So much fun.

Haha, yeah, I'm sort of addicted to their concerts. Whenever they're nearby I tend to go because they're so much fun. And it's always about the same amount of money all together that I'd spend on a night out anyway. :)
