bohemia: (Misc - NYC)

I KNOW, I KNOW... TV. But I really need to post about this week so I can record it for posterity~*~*.

It all started Saturday, when [livejournal.com profile] splits_thesky came up to see the play I'm helping with at school. My dad and I drove down to pick her up from the train station and our car battery died? So we had to wait until a family friend came all the way out to give us a jump and then get to school with enough time for me to do my stage manager stuff. I got there later than I was supposed to--but earlier than the audience, so there was that.

The next day we drove her all the way home, which is always a fun ride, except the intermittent clouds made the roads very bi-polar and scary to drive on at times. My dad and I kept shouting at the rainbows we saw on the way home. THERE WAS A DOUBLE RAINBOW AND A HALF.

After I got back home [livejournal.com profile] splits_thesky and I both realized I could have just stayed at her house because she was supposed to come back to NYC for the Rooney show yesterday ANYWAY. But we (mainly me) weren't thinking straight. Then that night's play performance was canceled because one of our cast members hurt their foot.

The rest of the week was a blur. I didn't do much except watch TV and laze about until Wednesday when I went back downtown to pick up [livejournal.com profile] splits_thesky and see Rooney. We stopped at McGee's Pub, the inspiration for MacLaren's on How I Met Your Mother, got a little tipsy on Horse's Necks (me) and Gin & Tonics ([livejournal.com profile] splits_thesky) and then somehow found our way to the Rooney show (there was a drunk!voicepost planned but I couldn't remember my passcode since I hadn't done a VP in AGES), where we both got another round of Gin & Tonics and tried to enjoy the show from various points in the venue. We were near the stage by the end though, which was what mattered.

The opening acts were Black Gold and The Young Veins, who were both really good considering that Young Veins is half of what used to be Panic! At The Disco, who I was never that big a fan of. Rooney (or Robert, really) also did this thing where they let the fans choose the set list for each venue. I forgot to vote because Robert posted/tweeted the link while I was at play practice, promised myself I'd vote when I listened to all of Eureka enough to decide, and then... that never happened. So I can't really hate on the set list, but it really was the worst ever. As I was transcribing it into my iPod this afternoon I realized there weren't many songs I adored on it. And really, all I ever want is for them to play "The Floor" and they NEVER DO. But the new bassist Brandon was adorable and looked like he had a good time, considering he was kinda thrust into all this right before tour. I may miss Matt's stalker!glasses, but Brandon's look of utter joy on stage was too cute and awesome.

I didn't bring my camera, so all I have are phone photos that I uploaded to Facebook here. But frak that, my phone's camera is 5MP. If that's ~crappy phone quality~ now, too bad.

Set lists:

Black Gold
Plans And Reveries
Detroit
Breakdown
Shine Tonight
Heaven Come Back To Me
The Comedown

The Young Veins
Young Veins (Die Tonight)
The Other Girl
Is It True
Dangerous Blues

Everyone But You (this is my ~*~theme song right now)
Defiance
Walk In The Room
Maybe I Will
Changes

Rooney
When Did Your Heart Go Missing

The Hunch
Losing All Control
I Should Have Been After You

Stars And Stripes
That Girl Has Love
I Can't Get Enough

Encore:
Not In My House
Shakin'

And then the show ended 20 minutes before [livejournal.com profile] splits_thesky's train left NYC so even though we made a mad dash to get there in time, she missed it and had to crash at my place. By the time we got back to my house, the next train would have just been pulling into NYC (two hours after the train she was supposed to catch).

AND THEN WE ALMOST MISSED HER TRAIN AGAIN TODAY. But we made it by seconds, even though we were slightly hungover. And now [livejournal.com profile] splits_thesky is now safely back at her own home, I made it to the play (and tech went on without a hitch even though neither lighting or sound was at the rehearsal yesterday), and had a fun day altogether. But now I'm just tired. TOMORROW, TV.

ETA: ALSO! When we were trying to get back to Penn Station for the train, one of the actors from that Enjoy play I saw recently was on the same platform and I had a small celebrity freak-out. :D

lulz, I love how you make everything sound so logical and calm, when I just remember it as a lot of, "lol what is even going ON", and giggling. ....looooooots of giggling.

But, uh, I have nothing really to comment on?? Because, you know, I was THERE, and all. Oh, although, I will say this:

and The Young Veins, who were both really good considering that Young Veins is half of what used to be Panic! At The Disco, who I was never that big a fan of

...dude, this is, like, the complete opposite of my opinions (well, I did like Black Gold, I mean re: those P!atD kids, here). I GUESS WE ARE NOT ACTUALLY 5 MILLION % EXACTLY THE SAME, WHAT IS HAPPENINGGGGGG???

looool, see but that does not TRANSLATE AS WELL.

Wait, wait, really? I won't be getting anything of theirs (besides "Everyone But You"... and their cover of "Walk In The Room" was fun) but they were entertaining?

Also, re: that one conversation we had at the show, I realized after the fact (as in last night while leaving you my drunky comment) that I DID see Rooney when they opened for Polyphonic Spree. They were the second act and I left after that. Also because Polyphonic Spree creeps me out, otherwise I might've stayed. If it were a band I liked or was intrigued to hear, I would stay.

hah, well, TRUE.

Yeaaahh, idk, I think it's just residual from my dislike of Pretty. Odd.; it seems like mostly the same music they're making, now. Which, like, I don't HATE, buuuut, y'know, I preferred AFYCSO (and fell in LOVE with the band, when they were in that phase), sooo.

awwwwww, see, I love the Polyphonic Spree!! ...that is, I've only actually heard a couple songs of theirs?? But I love them!! Especially this, ngl:
