I've had dreams of Boston all my life

I never thought I'd see the day that I'd be too busy to post an update. And yet here we are...
I'm not really busy, honestly. I mean, there's stuff to do at work but I'm more interested in writing now. Of course now they're trying to give me other things to do. Yeah.... about that...
Whatever, Boston was phenomenal, as it was last time. We left on Friday and our Megabus didn't have outlets like they usually do--the bus wasn't even a Megabus bus. So we couldn't watch Netflix via our phones like we'd planned. We had music and Cabin Pressure and other things but ended up playing 7 Little Words on my phone, fighting my phone's GPS that was always off by at least an hour, and chatting and/or making each other giggle with misread/misheard moments along the way. As we do.
We stayed with Divya's cousin Syon again, who did his best to be around now and then even though it's finals or something now (IDK, college is so far away~~ to me) and his adorable dog Humphrey, who we ended up essentially making AUs for (The Humphs is his street name). Oh, and Syon's roommates. One of which I saw exactly once, and the other who we awkwardly met again during an impromptu discussion of Zelda and philosophy because he had the same book as I do.
Friday we just went over to Faneuil Hall at Syon's recommendation. Then we looked up the recs
sugareey and
chiasmus left on my last Boston entry and checked out a few places. It was a tourist trap, but not much more than Navy Pier was in Chicago or South Street Seaport is in NYC. We had a nice chat with a cashier at Newbury Comics about The Hunger Games and bopped along to Britney Spears on their radio.
Saturday we made our way over to the Comic Con that was the sole purpose of our trip after a rough start after dropping my phone in the toilet (BEFORE I did anything, thankfully) and looking for a place to have lunch (Cafe Luna was uber busy! Mariposa Bakery was snobbish!). It took a bit to find it once we got off the T, but in true Boston form we found it after at least ten minutes. A lot of people recognized Divya's Fire Nation Toph costume and some even took pictures! A few guys recognized my Ramona Flowers, one girl awkwardly asked me about my subspace bag and, while most likely unrelated, I got elbowed in the boob while walking around. Afterwards we started to barhop, decided not to, and then sat in a Subway/Hagen Daaz (I didn't know that was a combo?) until we could be sure there was nothing else to do but go home. We'd planned on going back out to Harvard Square but... that didn't happen. It says a lot about us that when we're together we can spend days on end just chatting about the most inane things. To be fair, the other people in the house planned on going out, too, and didn't. Although they didn't spend any time with us, either, so in retrospect we could've been a little quieter as they were probably busy with schoolwork. Oops.
BTW, my phone is okay! I left it off for a few hours after taking it completely apart to sanitize and dry it and now it's just like nothing happened. Well, sans screen protector because like hell if I know where I put the others I'd saved. But otherwise decent!
Sunday, after a long we made our way to our favorite brunch place Andala (I LOVE THIS PLACE. OKAY OKAY.) before heading back home, without outlets again, but doing much of the same stuff we did on the way there.
Other random highlights:
- Women's Dare Center (a misread sign for a health clinic)
- "You Ain't Seen Muffin Yet" on McD's billboard
- Two Yonder Breaks (relating a story to Divya about how Tumblr > real life--one of many)
- Kazoo Hazing!
- "Do you know Avatar?" "I know OF it," "Do you want to watch a movie?" "No, because then I'd have to use my eyes!"
- "My parents are dead!" "That's rough, buddy!" (Batman and Harry Potter bonding, with bonus Zuko)
- Jar Jar Binks covering "One Time" by Bieber: "Mesa Tell You One Time"
- Being asked which tea I wanted while still partly dressed as Ramona Flowers -- by complete coincidence!
- The idea of Cheers playing the Cheers theme at opening and closing to pump up the workers, but the workers are probably tired of the song after a month. Which led to the inevitable "I want fic where Jamie Bell and Channing Tatum work at Cheers!" And then me remembering I'd read that fic, more or less, with a J2 twist.
There were probably more in-jokes that we've forgotten and that will come up later.
Anyway, my sister decided Boston is where she wants to go for her July vacation with my nephew. I'll be going along as her guide. BOSTON, I WILL BE BACK.
