Boston suggestions and Fall TV pilots

So next weekend
splits_thesky and I are off to Boston! It's her birthday the following week, and she wanted to go to Boston? So... we're... doing that. IT SOUNDS SO WEIRD BUT THAT'S BASICALLY IT. We have a fairly loose itinerary planned for Friday and Saturday (Sunday is when we return) that includes the New England Aquarium, the MIT Museum, a picnic/lunch at Boston Public Garden (Beacon Hill!) and maybe a movie tour or visit to the Zoo or some other museum. Those of you from/frequent visitors to Cambridge/Boston, what are good places to eat lunch/dinner? We're generally going on Yelp! ratings and pictures but after DC we're wary of things going to complete hell on us. So any advice in that area (or tips on far more interesting museums/sites to see) are welcome.
I watched some pilots: Hellcats, Nikita and Terriers. Terriers was the only one that really hooked me. Nikita seems intriguing enough but it didn't focus too much on her. I don't want to judge the show so harshly from one episode, but everyone else was more intriguing to me. Every time it went back to Nikita I was like, "Yeah, whatever, cut back to the other characters!" Hellcats is too teenager-drama-catty for my tastes. Terriers is supposed to be an hour-long dramedy, but it feels much more dramatic than comedic. The only comedy stems from its Psych-meets-Bored to Death premise of LOL THESE GUYS ARE JUST WINGING THIS DETECTIVE JOB, but since I watch both Psych and Bored to Death it feels a bit tired to me. Still, I love Donal Logue enough to keep watching even if it hadn't pulled me in.
I also wanted to start watching Sons of Anarchy again and catch up with Human Target. I can do that within a week, right? >.>

Date: 2010-09-13 12:42 am (UTC)loooooool, everyone who I'm like, "I'M GOING TO BOSTON!!!" to, is just like, ".....why?". To which I just keep being like, "...I want to?? And it's my birthday soon, so THERE."
....YOU FORGOT TO MENTION THE GAY BAR-ING.
Also...wait, we're going to the MIT Museum?? I mean, that's cool, I guess, but -- when did we decide that.
But yes, LJ friends of Lia, pleaaaase help us out with the suggesting!! In the "things to do" area, especially, seeing as rn we're just like, "....maybe this thing?? Or...idk, this thing miiiight be cool...??"

Date: 2010-09-13 01:21 am (UTC)I don't think we ever decided on MIT, I just happened to have it in my text file when I was writing this so I just threw that in there? When I wrote this we were like two minutes into that Skyping session, sooo.

Date: 2010-09-14 02:10 am (UTC)I love the Aquarium, and if you go to Boston Commons, you might see Emerson College playing Quidditch in the baseball/softball fields. :D
Um, as for places, you can try to find places in Copley, or else Newbury St. (You can totes visit Johnny Cupcakes or merch and Upper Crust for pizza there! Or Charlie's Saloon, I have an LJ friend that actually works there too!) If you end up taking the T at all, Park Street and Boylston have some good restaurants (Bolocco is one of my favs, and it's near the Commons).
Err...hope that was helpful?

Date: 2010-09-14 02:47 am (UTC)This is definitely helpful! We really need a variety of places to eat in case things go crazy on us with the ones we jotted down originally. And Quidditch matches! I'll try to check those out for sure.

Date: 2010-09-14 02:05 pm (UTC)....okay, first of all, ADORABLE (&she is super cute, how did I never know this before??), and second, the first thing I thought was "GOOFEY", and couldn't stop laughing.

Date: 2010-09-15 01:30 am (UTC)...awwww, he deleted it. There used to be a photo on MySpace of him and her skiing or something (there was a lot of snow?) and they were so cuuuuttte. <333333
I SUDDENLY NEED TO FIND THAT EPISODE WHEN DANNY WAS TALKING ABOUT HOW SHE DEFENDED HIM AGAINST THOSE JERKS. THAT IS MY FAVORRRRRIIIITTTTEEEE PRISCILLA STORY.

Actually, all of her tweets are really cute, because they're mostly just good wishes for Kendall or Kevin, or their friends (this might be the cutest, though<3).

Date: 2010-09-15 12:33 am (UTC)1) it is, apparently, BOTH Jamie Kaler's birthday AND Logan Henderson's birthday!
aaaaaaand that is your transition for:
2) THISSSSSSSSS (that last Jonas gif is PERFECT)
3) and this, which is mostly notable for the D.Belt (.....is it sad that I recognized him from the back just because of his hair?? I mean, the loud plaid shirt didn't HURT, buuut), buuuut also for that first GORGEOUS picture of Katelyn Tarver.
..............let's be clear, though, I am still dying a thousand tear-filled deaths for My Boys rn.

Date: 2010-09-15 01:43 am (UTC)AND LOOOOOOOOL I WAS GOING TO LINK YOU TO THESE TWO THINGS, BUT THEN I SAW YOUR ONE COMMENT (AND REPLIED) AND THEN.... JUST DIDN'T THINK ABOUT LINKING EITHER. BUT I LOVE HOW KENDALL MAKES A PRETTY GOOD-LOOKING GIRL, JUST LIKE HIS BOYFRIEND.
I TOTALLY RECOGNIZED HIM, TOO. IF ONLY BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE HAS HAIR THAT LENGTH (I JUST ASSUMED IT WAS JAMES UNTIL THE SECOND PICTURE AND WAS LIKE, "NOOO... JAMES JUST CUT HIS HAIR-- WAIT, WHAT ARE THOSE SHOESSSSSSS."). ALSO, I LIKE HOW ERIN'S BOOTS ARE LIKE COMPLETELY IN LOGAN'S CROTCH IN THAT SECOND PIC.
ALSO ALSO, IS ERIN.... BETWEEN KATELYN'S LEGS IN THAT ONE SHOT? >.>

Date: 2010-09-17 11:21 pm (UTC)When you're picnicking, I'd recommend avoiding Faneiul Hall Marketplace, if possible, since FHM is kind of a tourist deathtrap. But it might be unavoidable, lol. Though there are a lot of different food places if you're looking for somewhere quick to get lunch from. I like the macaroni place that's in there. It's within walking distance of the Commons, also near Gov Center & the aquarium. There will be lots of people in costume for the Freedom Trail.
Toscanini's is good for ice cream, and it's in Central Square. For drinks, I've heard good things about Cuchi Cuchi, though I haven't been there before. There's also the cupcake place next to the tea place in Harvard Square, which I enjoy.
I don't really know anything that's close to MIT, aside from the Garment District, but you shouldn't eat any of the clothes there. Oh, and Characters, but that is a horribly mediocre place.

Date: 2010-09-23 03:15 am (UTC)lulz, we totally didn't go near any clothing stores that I can really remember though? We were mostly in Boston itself, though.

Date: 2010-09-23 03:20 am (UTC)It's in the MIT area? lol It's a good place to go if you like secondhand clothes shopping.
