I saw Valentine's Day yesterday, finally. If I hadn't been spoiled for the surprise by the big hoopla the internet made over a certain kind of couple in it, I think I really would've enjoyed it more. I did enjoy it, but I just... wasn't surprised like everyone else in the theatre. That said, the hoopla made me want to see it more. I really just went for George Lopez, who was in it more than I expected so that was cool. Half-way through the movie I realized there was three actors of Latino origins in it and I was like, "FUCK YEAH LATINOS." IDK, I saw The Black List a few week ago and since then I've been on a "positive ethnic pride" kick.
Anyway, I just caught up on TV. Here's some thoughts:
Big Love: I think Nikki's epiphany is good for her, I knew Spacek was up to no good and lolololol Bill being upset over Margie's marriage toWilcroft Dr. Sexy Goran. And what a way to second-handedly punch him. Tetherball? Really?
On the other hand, I am kind of rooting for something to happen between Barb and Adam Beach's character. There's been too many "affairs" in the house recently (Margie/Ben, Nikki/that lawyer dude, sorta Margie/Goran even if it's not real, Bill/Anna) but wow, if they're not setting that up somewhere down the line they should maybe... get to that.
Brothers & Sisters: Honestly, Scotty is the only reason I'm still watching. <333
How I Met Your Mother: I'm so disappointed in this season and how things are going that it took me until today to finally watch this. Remember when I said there wasn't an episode that I hated? And here's three (or more?) in a row. ALSO WTF IS WITH THE GUEST STARS. THIS ISN'T FRIENDS. THIS ISN'T WILL AND GRACE. IF IT WAS EITHER OF THOSE SHOWS I WOULDN'T BE WATCHING. DO NOT BE PSYCH AND TURN THIS INTO A REVOLVING DOOR OF GUEST STARS. THIS SHOW IS BETTER THAN THAT. (That said, HI DAVID ILU AND YOUR CAMEOS MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE'S S.O.'S CAMEOS)
I don't want to be that fan who hates the show and still complains about it each week. But, this is my journal and I use cuts. I'll try to make this be the last week I mention this.
There was a scuffle earlier this week in one of the comms about where the writers went wrong with this season. I didn't know what they were talking about, but it stayed in my mind the whole time I was watching the episode. It feels like they don't know where else to go with the characters besides the main storyline. It's sad because the show used to be more than just about Ted. But I love Ted, despite his girliness, so I'll keep hanging on.
The Big Bang Theory: Wow, they promoted that cameo a bit much.
BUT THANK YOU RAJ. I HAVE ALWAYS ASKED THAT ABOUT THE CHARACTER NAMES. SRSLY.
Sheldon was kind of beyond himself this episode. I think they should rein him back in. Just because he's a fan favorite doesn't mean every rule is breakable.
How To Make It In America: I LOVE THIS SHOW. Okay, I'm starting to think that this'll always me flailing over the locations they use, BUT. Intervale Avenue ≠ Hunt's Point. Also, my dad went to F.I.T. and I asked him if that's what it looked like inside and he was like, "No, not really... unless maybe they were in the top, but it looked weird." And I was like, "YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE THAT WAS PACE. THEY DEFINITELY PASSED RIGHT BY THE CORNER I USED TO SIT BEFORE UNIVERSITY 101." I was pretty ecstatic. I MISS PACE SO MUCH, YOU GUYS ;_;
The rest of the three episodes were just me flailing over Guzman and Lake Bell. And lol at the bodega putting Rasta Monsta on the bottom shelf. I never look on the bottom shelf. I feel bad now.
Lost: I... don't.... okay, so the episode before last? That boy is Kate's, yes? Somehow? Everyone says he looked exactly like Jack but his eyes are so much like Kate's, and he has freckles, so. But how he could be Kate's... idk.
But I'm not getting this sideflash. And what just happened between Sayid and FLocke? When did Sayid give in? I... what. That whole last ten or so minutes was badass. But I kept thinking they were going to go into a room and find like, a Stargate or Rick O'Connell. HIEROGLYPHICS CONFUSE ME.
White Collar: HENDRICKSEN HAIIIII. Can Whitfield have his own show? I'd like that very much.
CAN WHOEVER GETS HURT NEXT WEEK BE ONE OF THE VAN PEEPS? I narrowed it down to Mozzie, Elizabeth or one of the van peeps. Mozzie is the most likely but noooo, not Mozzie!!!
Burn Notice: Sam is such a BAMF. I never thought Bruce Campbell could be seen as the muscle, but I feel like Michael's in good hands when Sam's on the case. Also, when Michael was running off the helipad and stunned his leg or whatever I couldn't stop thinking how badass US spies must be now. They probably get trained in parkour along with everything else. Like American James Bond ninjas.
Poor Maddy. And poor Fi! He never says anything to her. :(
WHAT. WHAT. WHAT. WHOSE HOUSE IS THAT.
I was going to watch Parenthood, but I got three minutes in before I realized it was an hour show and I can't watch some of those actors for an hour every week. Nor do I have the time for another hour.
Haven't seen Caprica yet, and I want to watch Psych over again before I talk about that because there were some specific points I wanted to talk about and I didn't write anything down.
Finally, it's
f_march_madness time! Last time I just voted for whomever I liked more, but this time if two fandoms I hate are up against each other (like pretty much the entire teen category-- seriously, where's Melrose Place? :( ) I don't even bother. But if there's a character I like more or like even without watching the show (like Cara, hellooooo), I'll vote for them. I don't understand why some of the older fandoms are still in there, like Saved by the Bell, X-Files, Farscape and Popular, but I do enjoy the whole process so I'm excited to see how things go (and I'm already impressed with how Gus is keeping up with this AD dude. YOU GO, GUSTER). Eventually I'll just be rooting for like, the one remaining character that I adore, but whatever.

Date: 2010-03-06 07:33 pm (UTC)I love George Lopez a lot which is why I will watch the movie when it comes on DVD. I'm not a big fan of romantic comedies and I doubt any of my friends would want to see it in the theater anyway.
I have completely lost interest in HIMYM. I really don't care anymore. I still DVR it and watch but it's not as good as it used to be.

Date: 2010-03-07 08:01 pm (UTC)I was trying to get my sister to go, but we were under the impression it was going to be a bit more funny than it was. It wasn't so comedic as it was romantic most of the time. So we were bored.
HIMYM is just... disappointing. I couldn't even get excited that it got picked up for more seasons.

Date: 2010-03-07 08:05 pm (UTC)They imply that someone does. They mention something shocking will happen and then Neal, I think, going, "NOOOO!" But whether someone gets hurt or something is destroyed... who knows.

Date: 2010-03-06 09:11 pm (UTC)Yeah, Parenthood was waaay too dramatic for me. I guess I only caught the second half, but it felt like an hour of people standing around crying and I just gave up

Date: 2010-03-07 08:40 pm (UTC)♫ BBT: I know Sheldon is pretty much the favorite character of most people in the fandom, but he's not mine. I like him well enough, but he annoys a lot of the time. I know there's a reason for that and it creates funny moments, so I can live with it. But I enjoy the other characters contributions to the show more. I don't know, I like that Leonard can see how "normal" people think they're weird, try to fit in with them and still not be able to change who he really is more than the complete ignorance Sheldon has of all that. But that's just me. ;)

Date: 2010-03-08 08:07 pm (UTC)I've never liked Leonard much but I do like that he can see the group from an outside perspective. It keeps Penny from having to be the only one to run in and state, "HEY YOU NERDS ARE NOT NORMAL," and run out again. I like her but having her be the only outsider would be frustrating. But as a nerd I feel like Leonard's a bit too embarrassed by his own interests to actually enjoy them. He seems so excited whenever someone mentions doing something, but when he has to explain it to Penny he downplays it. I don't see how that's healthy for him, you know? But I do wish the show focused more on the group. I didn't like it focused on Leonard's "conquest" of Penny and focusing on Sheldon was too uncomfortable, but I think it's finding a nice medium now. :)

Date: 2010-03-09 01:19 am (UTC)I completely understand and I agree with it. I think that's his weak point. I find it easier to relate to him and usually when that happens I end up liking a character.
