Age of the geek, baby

Leverage: I APPROVE SO HIGHLY. THIS IS MY NEW SANDBOX. EXACTLY WHY I'VE BEEN MARATHONING ALL THESE SHOWS. EXACTLY.
All right, so Christian Kane still isn't the greatest actor, but he of the "play myself" school of acting fits this series. And if he really is just being himself all the time, I'm pretty sure he's the inspiration for Jensen's Dean Winchester. I don't know how I didn't see it before.
The whole orange soda thing with Hardison is a little weird (is he Kel Mitchell?), but I like that the geek of the team isn't a nerdy, skinny, white boy. AND I ADORE HIM SO HARD. OMG ALDIS HODGE, Y'ALL. WHO KNEW SAMMY'S KILLER WAS SO AMAZINGLY GIFTED AT COMEDY. Also he and Parker are the greatest pairing ever. I can't deny that I'm all over that ship like makeup on a supermodel.
I think this is the series that Smith wanted to be, with the charm and con artists/heists appeal of Burn Notice (Leverage:Burn Notice::The Mentalist:Psych?). Although I will say that Burn Notice is on a slightly larger scale with Westen being an actual burned spy and not just petty thieves being nice. So... it's basically Firefly in modern times, without the witty lines (although it's funny as hell without needing to be Joss-y) and as many characters. Or SGA, without the wormholes, because of the team aspect.
(It's so easily comparable to other things I watch because I watch every fucking thing ever.)
IDK why Parker and Hardison are the only two to go by last names only, but Eliot's last name is Spencer and I love the crossover ideas that come with that (plus, there was a pineapple in that Wedding Job episode. I'M JUST SAYIN').
Also, I kinda love the new opening credits. SO SHINY, OMG.
And then I tried to watch Dark Blue and just wanted more Leverage. Sorry Nicki Aycox, you're not that much of a draw. D:
In Plain Sight: I'm pretty sure the writers meeting for this episode went like this:
Writer #1: Hey, let's just throw all the awkward moments we can think of into one episode!
Writer #2: Done!
Seriously, what the hell? Mary and Raph in the morning, Mary and Marshall in the diner, Brandi and Raph in the living room, the entire Witsec office over Mary's ring... this episode was just AWKWARD ALL OVER THE PLACE.
Oh, and that ending? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE. Yeah, I like Marshall and I adore Mary. And I like them together, but I'm not sure I like them like that. If they're trying to make this all Mulder and Scully, man, I don't think I buy it. I like Raph and Marshall hasn't focused on Mary like that since..... the third episode of season one? So, CONFUSED. But then, what else am I supposed to think about Mary's random confession to Raph and then immediately regretting it, Brandi trying to make things out of nothing and then Marshall being all awkward and avoiding Mary's eyes at the end? Whaaaaaa.
Burn Notice: I was all "meh" and then in the last twenty minutes they wrap up with that. Oh team.
And is it finale time already? It didn't seem that long, :(
Royal Pains: LULZ, it took me a while to recognize Lee Tergesen as the reporter from Generation Kill, but once I did I randomly did that airplane move (that wasn't even done by his character) around my room, realized what I'd just done, and cracked up laughing.
I really like to stick to new shows for the show first and let fandom (ships/favorite characters/etc) filter in later, but don't think I didn't notice Evan repeating Divya's "gibberish" almost-verbatim at the end there.
Also, does House ever lose patients? Because this show might get tiresome if Hank's always saving people at the last minute.
Divya/Evan really needs to happen, in a Stephanie/Kenny from My Boys way. There I said it.
I was going over my friendslist trying to decide whether to do a friends cut and it seems I've inadvertently de-friended a few people? So, oops, sorry, and welcome back. I also added a few new people. HAI. This kind of entry is run of the mill in these parts, jsyk.
Tomorrow shall be spent reading fics and books because Monday starts Psych week. I have to buy pineapples and the S3 DVDs (still, because the stores near me SUCK) and then it's Psych all week until the premiere. Of Season four. FOUR. OMG MY LITTLE SHOW IS ALL GROWED UP. <33
At some point I have to trek out to see Funny People (I would've gone today but for Leverage), G Force and Aliens in the Attic, too. SCHEDULING TIEMS.

In short, I think they pulled that bit for Hardison's character for fun.
AND I ADORE HIM SO HARD. OMG ALDIS HODGE, Y'ALL. WHO KNEW SAMMY'S KILLER WAS SO AMAZINGLY GIFTED AT COMEDY.
IKR?

THIS THIS THIS. Agreement.
I do happen to like Dark Blue, but for Logan Marshall-Green as well as Nikki. Dylan's pretty fly, too.
Is it not going to be back until March or something, Burn Notice. D:
SERPENTINE SERPENTINE FASHION. Ahaha! I need to catch up on Royal Pains, I've only seen the pilot. :P

Date: 2009-08-02 04:15 am (UTC)\o/ The Firefly thing hit me when Parker was in the museum and was like, "Some people do crosswords." And I kinda shouted at the screen, "AND SOME PEOPLE JUGGLE GEESE!" And then I went about trying to pair them off with Firefly counterparts.
I love the whole cast of Dark Blue, Nicki was just the reason I tried it out. But idk, the first three episodes didn't pull me in. Maybe if I keep watching it'll pull me in.
I know! Ugh, I hate USA's short seasons some times. But then not because it gives me shows all year long. I can't wait for White Collar. :D
My parents are always quoting The In-Laws so any time that reference pops up somewhere it's comedy gold to me. :D And you need to! The pilot was horrible, imo, but the series became so much better. I... need an icon of that too. Damn, I don't have enough slots for all these shows!
PSYCH!!! IN A WEEK! EEEEEEEEEEE.

Date: 2009-08-02 05:28 am (UTC)BABY GEESE ARE JUGGLED. OH WASH.
I could see it had a lot of potential and me being me, I know I'll like the rest. OMG I swear one of these days I'm gonna make a .gif icon with about 14 different fandoms, it'll be my multifandom icon. :P
Yeah, at least there's more TV to look forward to while it's on hiatus...I like how it's a bit different than cop shows in that they are undercover and especially with Dean, I like him but with that whole saving the money even if it's under the floor boards things. I wouldn't say he's crooked but is is walking a thin line between being a good cop and an actual bad guy.
WHITE COLLAR YES OMG NOW PLZ. MATT BOMER!!!!11!1!11!11!eleventy!!!
PSYCH! I AM SO FLIPPING EXCITED. THIS SHOW MAKES ME WANT TO LIKE PINEAPPLES. It's hard because I don't. I read the word and the first thing I think of is Psych, but the second things is apples that were soaked in Pine Sol.

Date: 2009-08-02 06:13 am (UTC)I used to hate pineapples when I was younger, especially the texture. I'm not sure when I changed, but ever since Psych started it's been my little celebration to have some, in whatever form, while I marathon it. :D
APPLES IN PINE SOL. I USED TO SAY THE SAME THING. I used to be so confused about Pine trees, pineapples and Pine Sol. I never could remember which went with which.
