I'm done with my first week of classes. My schedule sucks sort of, but I've filled out the huge expanse of time to my benefit so I'll do ok.
- Monday & Wednesday:
- 11-12:15pm Modern European History: From the Enlightenment on
- 12:30-1:15pm Fundamentals of Mass Media Writing
- Thursday:
- Saturday:
- 12-2:30pm American Culture During Wartime
So I get Tues. and Fri. and Sun. off. Mondays and Wednesdays I'm spending my massive free block (1:15-6pm) in the library reading, because I'm going to keep my textbooks at home. Unless I have a paper that I can write up on the computers, I'll be spending my block reading.
History gives us a lot of reading to do, too so I can always do that if I don't fit it in on my days off. Media, I know I will always finish the assignments the night it's given out because I love media classes too much to let them wait. Algebra.... I'll forever be taking Algebra. No matter how many times I pass this damn class it's never enough for the next school I go to. This is my third Algebra class, not counting the two summer classes during high school and the two times I "tutored" for the damn re-test at Lehman this summer and fall. Art history is going to be fun, except the teacher is looking for the simplest answer, and apparently stating the obvious is not something that comes easily to my class.
American Culture bugs me. It looked intriguing on paper: it was basically going to focus on what Americans value and traditions we have and why they are so important. Then I buy the book for the class and it's called "ETHICS". It's pretty much my high school morality class part 2. Then I finally get to the class today, and the teacher says it's about the way we as a country felt during times of war. Complete 180, yes? I am a bit miffed, but we're starting off with the Civil War and I kept thinking about "Weekend Warriors". It didn't help that I was listening to Psych clips on the way to campus. Still, we won't even be using the textbook but a website. And we have to read five different articles a week, and write 2 page summaries on each (most of the articles run 10 pages plus). I've got my work set out for me. And I won't complain any which way, because how long did it take for me to transfer? So yeah...
For Saturdays my bus doesn't run all the way up to the school so finding an alternate route wasn't so fun this morning. But I think I found one that'll be easier for next weekend. We shall see.
Oh yeah, my Algebra teacher is totally the Indian version of Nathan Fillion. I swear I think he's even Canadian too. He doesn't have the huge jaw and nose that Nathan does, but everything else is so Nathan. I may not mind that class so much. *whistles*

P.S. None of my classes take place in lecture halls. I'm not entirely sure that there IS a building with lecture halls on campus. And I have no spotted one laptop in a classroom yet. I may need to rethink my school icon.
