Being from The Bronx means never having to say you're not

Has anyone ever checked out alumni from their schools on Wikipedia? I know my own high school was pretty lame with the alumni. But I went looking through all the schools my friends went to, and omg. Dudes, I did not realize all these people went to school in the Bronx. The list of people from The Bronx is sketchy, at best because it includes people who randomly lived in The Bronx for a period of their lives, but graduates? Oh man.

I knew about Edgar Allen Poe dying here, obviously. I pass the damn cottage of his every day, along with Regis Philbin Avenue. I knew Martin Scorcese and Regis Philbin both went to Hayes. I knew about Bobby Darin and all those Rat Packer-ish dudes at Bronx Science-- but I didn't know about George Carlin!

And Don Adams and Ace Freely at Clinton? Jon Cryer and Jon Favreau at Bronx Science? ALSO AT BRONX SCIENCE-- JAMES KYSON LEE. BRONX SCIENCE IS LIKE, RIGHT NOW TO MY COLLEGE. SO. MUCH. WIN. I wanted to run around my room like, "Ando went to school in the Bronx!"

And then my dad wanted to look up his schools, and we found tons of people like Derek Drymon (from Spongebob), Carlos Saldanha (Ice Age director), Gerard Way, Jared Leto, Keith Haring and Basquiat (which I knew about, I just forgot-- dad says the SVA hallways were full of Haring's art)! Michael Giacchino and Bryan Singer too. DUDE, and that's just the college. My dad's high school? Basic font of creativity.

I love New York. It never ceases to amaze me. Like, Yunjin Kim, Method Man, Randy Savage and Robert Loggia are all from Staten Island, wtf? I LOVE YOU NEW YORK.

Also, nemo_88, look! The Bronx has Swedish connections!

Anyway, why am I still up? It's already tomorrow and I have a Russian final at 1pm plus an online essay exam. Wish me luck!

Being from New York I usually can't see what the big deal is but then I talk to people who lived in small towns and came to New York for a certain industry and then I feel really grateful to already be living here. I do love the city myself, but I guess to me it'll always just be "home".

My high school was tiny and lame. No one famous ever graduated there. 'Tis very sad. Oh, besides me. Of course, of course. I did forget myself. Mwaha.

But I did look up Grand Valley State University, where I'm attending now. WHOO! Greg Colton definitely graduated from there. Imma fan!

My high school was pretty lame itself. But it was on the medium side, my graduating class was the largest in a while. Hey, you could be an internet celebrity!
