Diggnation Fandom Spam
Dec. 15th, 2007 12:36 amBefore we get into the spam, which is mostly videos here, I need to relay a story.
Back when Tech TV was around, there was a show called The Screensavers. It was like any of those morning news shows like Good Morning America-- except it came on in the afternoon and was all about tech news: video games played a small role, but there was G4TV for that. Tech TV had everything to do about computers, software, peripherals, company mergers, all the news that a tech geek was interested in, without any of the stupid tabloid crap. Eventually Tech TV and G4TV merged, and a lot of Tech TV shows went dark, but The Screensavers crawled on. Eventually G4TV began its sad descent into Spike TV version 2.0 (Spike TV is a great channel, we just didn't need two of them), and The Screensavers got twisted into Attack of the Show! The younger hosts survived the switch, including Kevin Rose, Brendan Moran and jerks like Kevin Pereira and weirdo Sarah Lane. At this point, AOTS was still okay, because there was still an element of tech news to it. But once Kevin Rose got the boot, it easily descended into Kevin Pereira's hour of hating on WOW players cooler than he will ever hope to be. Pereira is actually still the only person from the days that I recall to still be employed by G4TV, which boggles my mind.
Anyway, after a few months of not hearing about Kevin Rose anywhere, I decided to do a quick search online. It turns out he had started two companies and a podcast in this absence. I immediately started downloading the past episodes of the podcast, which was called Diggnation. It's been going for two years, and while it's definitely broken away from its original claim to "cover the top news stories on the popular social bookmarking site digg.com" I still find these two dudes hilariously entertaining. So onto the fandom post!
( This is my favorite story of all time! )
You can get the podcast at Diggnation.com or iTunes (but iTunes only has recent episodes.)
The annual holiday clip episode is always a blast as well. 2005 2006 2007
