Two years ago, the NYC MTA went on a strike. It conveniently happened in the middle of my finals week, when I was still at Pace (a completely different borough situated an hour away from my house). At that time we didn't have a car, so I had to rely on my brother-in-law to get me to my finals. Thankfully I had one final. But the strike, while only lasting days, cost the city upwards of $700 million in various revenue (people not able to shop in the middle of the Christmas season, get to work, using transportation for recreational means).
The Mayor said that the strike itself went against the terms of their contracts and fined the union $2.5 million dollars, and a judge even sentenced the President to ten days in jail.
It was highly inconvenient for us, but we New Yorkers stood by the MTA, because we knew they deserved new contracts. After two days of not having them, we were glad to have them back. In my mind the quiet on the streets was relative to the quiet in the air right after 9/11. When you live in a fairly busy city, you miss things like that.
So I'm going to support the WGA too, because one day I aspire to be among them, and I want to be treated fairly as well. Here's to you, WGA, for however long this lasts.
I find it amusing that the strike is taking place in the NaNoWriMo month. I can't be the only one.
How I Met Your Mother: Ha, I was about to say I've never heard of Dowisetrepla either! Good one. Although, how in debt are Marshall and Lily in 2020?!
The Big Bang Theory: You know, I'd be so lucky to have guy friends who wanted to play games all day. I only have two that do that!
"What the fresh hell is this?" LOL
Ugh, Prison Break. I want K-Ville! I've gotten used to Boulet and Cobb every Monday now!
Heroes: West is such a stalker. That isn't cute, Mrs. Bennet/Butler. That's restraining order material. "I just want to be part of your life?" By bringing her homemade waffles before a school day!? Who texts people that early? STALKER. And then suddenly he sees HRG and runs. LOL, now he's creeped out? Good for him, douche. Stay away from Claire. And if I were HRG, I'd just burn every shirt that I had with white stripes on a blue background and get contacts. Mohinder's got a broken nose already, so RUN BITCH RUN.
Why is everyone on this show such bad parents? Matt swears he's a good father, but he put Molly in a coma! How is that great? That's the point of being a parent, knowing better than your children and saying yes or no for them. Because all the want is to please you, so you have to figure out the edge, man. I mean, dysfunctional famileis can go either way: tortured comedians or crazycakes killers. But wow, that's way off topic.
Or not, because Niki is crazycakes.
And Peter! I don't think he remembered his mom, like everyone says. I think that's Angela's power, the opposite of Matt. She forced those memories into Peter. And that leads me to believe that she may have killed her own husband, driving him mad the same way she and Nathan assumed Peter was going.
Hiro. From the moment I saw that picture of him in his samurai suit, I figured this out. Kensei is a white dude, but Hiro didn't know that from his stories. Why? Because the entire story of Kensei was passed down by Yaeko, who saw Hiro as Kensei. All the stories Hiro reads in modern time are actually about himself. So to baby!Hiro, Kensei is Japanese, because past!Hiro is Japanese. What I'm still stuck on is how he was able to walk around medieval Japan without his glasses and be okay. If he doesn't need them, why wear them so often!
Okay. *flailing* Originally, I went "WTF IS THIS?! THIS ISN'T LOST, EXPLAIN YOURSELF." And then got really misty about Lost not being on air on Weds. And then I thought "Does this mean that regenerators/healers never die? Or is this just a reincarnation of Kensei? He's still got the accent."
But then I listened to what he said. DUDE. Does Peter travel to Japan to get Kensei and brings him back?
I thought next week was supposed to happen last week. Whatever, it's been a long time coming.
