Pre-Thanksgiving tales

Before I get into everything, Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it. I'm quite thankful for all of you on here-- whether we're close or not. ♥

Anyway, my nephew is playing Strong Bad's Cool Game for Really Attractive People Episode 1 on my Wii. He keeps repeating this one episode of Teen Girl Squad and cracking up at the line, "RATS LIKE METAL.... apparently!" I love my nephew's laughter. :) I can't believe in a month he'll be ten. I remember being ten.

Our turkey for tomorrow smelled pretty rank, so mom threw it out (she would've returned it, had she been able to find the receipt). If dad can't find another one tomorrow morning, we'll just get something from Boston Market. The rest of the meal is going according to plan. Except... I had to use cinnamon in my pumpkin pie instead of pumpkin spice and I'm not sure I used the correct kind of whipped cream. RESULTS TOMORROW (possibly via Twitter).

A cute story about Thanksgiving: when I was younger, I used to watch Home & Family all the time. I was a weird kid: I'd watch Jack Hannah and Trauma: Life in the ER and Discovery channel and... Baywatch. But then there was also a moment in time where I was obsessed with ABC Family, especially during the 25 Days of Christmas--as children are wont to do. So anyway, I wrote down a recipe for stuffing once because we'd never had stuffing on Thanksgiving before that and I wanted to try it. For the last ten years or so that stuffing has been my contribution to the Thanksgiving feast. Every year we forget a certain ingredient or so-- but since the internet wasn't available to me at the time, I was never able to get the exact recipe again.

So this afternoon, after conking out on the sofa for two and a half hours (I slept maybe five hours last night and nodded to and from school today), I wander into the kitchen to find my mom watching Oprah. And I see Oprah's cooking a turkey with someone named "Cristina" and I go, "WAIT WIDE SHOT PLEASE. CRISTINA WHO." And it was Cristina Ferrare (who hosted Home & Family with Chuck Woolery)! The next thing they cooked was the same damn stuffing I've made every year. You don't know how fast I went to Oprah.com to see what the original recipe looked like. And now I finally have those turkey and cranberry sauce recipes I had been trying to write down that same day but couldn't because my little ten year old hands couldn't scribble that quick and legibly. Me happy. :)

I had planned on writing out the recipe today, but now I can just link you guys! It's probably too late to make for tomorrow, but I at least insist you try it (it's delicious, don't believe me ask the dishes!) at some point. The other two recipes... well, I don't know how they taste yet. :/ When I do, I'll post the recipes.

Holiday Stuffing. lol, my mom was like, "Wait, CARROTS AND WHITE WINE?" I don't recall those in our recipe, either. And lulz at the skillet. We always just threw everything in a baking pan and cooked it immediately.

P.S. AUGH, I THINK I'M CATCHING A COLD. Since this afternoon my throat's been sore and I keep drinking soda and alcohol and nothing works. IDK, it might be a placebo effect but I SAY IT WORKS. I'm going to go pop some Tylenol (...in my mouth, I'm not doing any drive-bys on medicine).

MAYBE, BUT IT'S WEIRD. I GUESS WE'LL SEE TOMORROW (IT BEING NEW YEAR'S EVE AND ALL, SHE'S COMING HOME EARLY - PROOOBZ WHILE I'M STILL SLEEPING), LULZ!
